ABOUT MELISSA DECKMAN
Dr. Melissa Deckman is an award-winning political scientist who studies the impact of gender, religion and age on public opinion and political behavior. Since 2022, she has served as the CEO of Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI). Prior to her position at PRRI, she served as the Louis L. Goldstein Professor of Public Affairs at Washington College.Her latest book, The Politics of Gen Z (Columbia University Press, 2024), examines the impact of gender on the politics of Generation Z. She is also the author of Tea Party Women (NYU Press: 2016), which examined the role of women in conservative politics, and School Board Battles: The Christian Right in Local Politics (Georgetown University Press: 2004), which won the American Political Science Association’s Hu Morken Award for best book on religion and politics.Dr. Deckman\'s research has appeared in top scholarly journals and been featured in major media outlets including PBS, NBC, The New York Times, The Guardian, Newsweek, and Axios. Her commentary on religion, gender and politics has appeared in numerous places, including the Washington Post, the Hill, Religion News Service, the New Republic, and MSNBC, among others.
