ABOUT MELISA FINLEY
Melisa Finley is a Senior Research Engineer and the Division Head of the Roadway Traffic Control and Design Division at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI). She is also the Program Manager of the Traffic Control Devices Program. Her primary areas of expertise are work zone safety and operations, wrong-way driving, traffic control measures and devices, and STEM K-12 educational outreach. In her 25-year full-time career, Ms. Finley has led projects totaling over $15 million in research funding, authored over 80 reports, published 30 peer-reviewed papers in the Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board (TRB), and made numerous presentations on her research findings at TRB meetings, ITE meetings, American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) meetings, and other venues. She has conducted research projects for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), California DOT, Florida DOT, Ohio DOT, and the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) and various University Transportation Centers (UTCs). Ms. Finley is actively involved in TRB and the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (NCUTCD). She is the chair the TRB Committee on Traffic Control Devices (ACP55) and a technical member of the NCUTCD Temporary Traffic Control Technical Committee. Ms. Finley received her Bachelor of Science (Cum Laude) and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University.
