ABOUT MELIKA GHAZANFARI
I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Bioresource Engineering at McGill University, specializing in Integrated Food and Bioprocessing. My academic path builds on an honors degree in Food Science, with research and professional experiences that bridge food technology, sustainable biomaterials, and bioprocess design.My research and project experience include: Graduate Research Assistant, McGill Chemistry – Supporting ongoing research in advanced biomaterials under the supervision of Prof. Theo van de Ven. Project Intern, McGill University – Focused on the synthesis and characterization of sustainable cellulose-based hydrogels and emulgels, with applications in food packaging and material science. Undergraduate Research – Investigated microbial fermentation for xanthan gum production using Xanthomonas citri and whey-based media, and designed a two-phase stirred bioreactor for xylene vapor removal from air streams.
