About Melanie Stambaugh

Melanie Stambaugh has a diverse background in both the public and private sectors. Elected to Washington State’s House of Representatives at the age of 24, Melanie became the youngest female elected to the Washington State Legislature in more than 80 years. Serving two-terms in the state legislature, Melanie worked on the Education, Higher Education, Transportation, and Rules committees focusing on education reform, expanding career and technical education opportunities, improving freight mobility, and increasing government transparency. Upon retiring from public office, she returned to her business You Impression, a consulting company that specializes in professional development. You Impression works with individuals and companies to identify professional strengths, improve communication strategies, and promote personal growth. In 2021, Melanie joined The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA), the fourth largest containerized cargo port in the United States as their Director of Communication. The NWSA manages the marine cargo operations of the ports of Seattle and Tacoma where Melanie focuses much of her work on current supply chain challenges facing the west coast and global trade. Outside of work, Melanie is passionate about giving back to her community, she serves on several non-profit boards, including chairing the Washington Policy Center’s Young Professional Advisory Board, The Daffodil Scholarship Foundation, and the Communities In Schools of Puyallup Board of Directors. Melanie marches to the beat of her own drum, enjoying playing a variety of percussion instruments in her spare time. Melanie graduated from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business and has a Masters in Business Administration from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio Business School. Melanie is a self-taught graphic designer and avid percussionist who enjoys playing four-mallet classical pieces on the marimba. For fun, Melanie likes to watch animated movies, eat froyo, and support her UW Husky football team (go Dawgs!).
