About Melanie Pickett

I am most interested in sustainable water, wastewater, and solid waste treatment practices coupled with energy neutral opportunities. I successfully defended my PhD in Environmental Engineering at the University of South Florida in the Fall of 2018. My doctoral research focused on transitioning a proof-of-concept, lab-scale algal membrane photobioreactor technology to a functional prototype for the sustainable production of algal bioproducts and water quality enhancement. I followed up my graduate work with a post-doc position at NASA\'s Kennedy Space Center working on a project to develop closed-loop water purification systems for future space habitats. I have recently shifted back to the terrestrial, municipal realm of water and wastewater treatment, and taken a position with Carollo Engineers.
