About Melanie Maxine Davis

I was recognized for my talent as a writer at a fairly young age. It wasn’t until my life was thrust into a major news story that I discovered the marketing/communications field was my calling. Investigating and uncovering the truth was what essentially saved my life, but it also started me on a new journey – to use my knowledge, unique skill set and background to do things that some others cannot; write and tell stories. As I began to reclaim my life, I returned to Monroe County Community College where I maintained a 4.0 G.P.A. In May of 2014, I graduated with a 3.82 cumulative G.P.A. and was awarded the prestigious honor of Outstanding Student of the Year 2014. I also became known around campus for taking on the tough subjects as a chief contributor for the student newspaper, the Agora. I won multiple awards from the Michigan Community College Press Association (MCCPA), and I believe my work as a journalist led to positive change, both on and off the college’s campus. My courses at included journalism, new media journalism and photojournalism, which helped me develop skills in written, oral, and multimedia expression – all critical to working in the field of marketing/communications and media. I decided to go back to school to finish my bachelor\'s degree in Marketing in 2020, after a health issue that has been resolved. I graduated from Wayne State University, where I maintained a 3.65 G.P.A.
