ABOUT MELANIE HASSETT

I am a Senior Lecturer in International Business at Sheffield University Management School. My research focuses in international business, internationalisation and cross-cultural management. My academic research has focused largely on cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A), but more recently also on SME internationalisation and sustainability. I find M & As highly interesting due to their complexity and effects on different levels of the organisation as well as the role they play in shaping business environment, networks and industry. I am very interested also in sustainable international business and responsible research practices. My research also extends to research methodologies, particularly qualitative case studies, and longitudinal research designs and the role of time in international business research. I am experienced in multidisciplinary research projects using mixed methods, both quantitative and qualitative research methods (web-based surveys, interviews etc.). I am experienced in project work and tight deadlines, and I am good at delivering both scientific and corporate reports and presentations.I am passionate about education, and have held several leadership roles in education. I was the the Director of Postgraduate Education at Sheffield University Management School during 20••••23 responsible for 15 Masters\' programme and postgraduate students. This period was marked by the challenges related to the pandemic, and gained great experience in working under pressure in a highly regulated environment. Continuous improvement means for me to striving every academic year to enrich and improve the learning journey and experience of the students keeping up-to-date with the field, innovations, and global environment. I have also experience in training professionals. In my role as the Director of Postgraduate Education I worked closely with the Associate Dean Education and my role involved implementing the University of Sheffield\'s Learning and Teaching Strategy with the guidance from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the department of Management School.
