ABOUT MELANIE MORAZ

Hi, I’m a Junior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign majoring in Economics with minors in Business and Legal Studies. After graduation, I plan to attend law school and pursue a career in immigration and public interest law. I want to use my career to create opportunities for people who are often overlooked and to help families feel seen and supported when navigating systems that are usually stacked against them.For nearly six years I’ve worked in customer service roles where I’ve learned how to stay grounded under pressure, lead with empathy, and adapt quickly when challenges come up. Those experiences taught me how to communicate with people from completely different walks of life and how to solve problems in real time, lessons I know will carry over into the legal field.Outside of school and work, I’m a long-distance runner. Training for and completing half-marathons gave me a deep respect for consistency, mental strength, and resilience. Running taught me discipline, consistency, and mental toughness, and those lessons spill over into every part of my life. It’s where I learned that growth happens in the moments that test you the most.What drives me is equity, impact, and the belief that work should mean more than a title. I want to build a career defined not just by personal success but by the ways I can make a difference for others.
