ABOUT MELANIE MCNULTY

I am a professional on camera, theatre and voice over actor, director, writer, acting teacher/coach and founder of Actor Athletes digital acting community. I\'m now based in Los Angeles, California but was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois where I got my start working in local indie films, music videos, and commercials. One of my first professional jobs, a viral T-Mobile \"Home For The Holidays\" campaign, got me my Taft-Hartley at only 17 years old. I went on to receive a B.A. in Theatre-Acting from Indiana University-Bloomington with minors in Dance and Telecommunications and a certificate from the Gaiety School of Acting-The National Theatre School of Ireland in Dublin. After graduating, I worked in Chicago for 7 years, appearing in numerous theatrical productions, indie films, commercials, and voice over. I was nominated for Best Actress in multiple indie film festivals for my work in “West Virginian Starfish”, and was nominated as Best Director for my work on “Cry It Out” at the Joseph Jefferson Awards, which celebrates excellence in Chicago theatre. I am represented by Grossman & Jack Talent and Citizen Skull Management, and a proud member of SAG-AFTRA.I have been teaching and directing children\'s theatre for over a decade, and one-on-one coaching for the past four years. Most recently I\'ve taught at Youth Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, Actors Training Center and Skyline Children\'s Theater in Chicago. I\'ve worked with acting students of all ages, abilities, and experience levels from absolute beginner, to seasoned working actors. My experience includes summer camp settings, after school programs, residencies, in studio, private lessons, intensives, workshops, remotely over Zoom, and more. I’ve taught a variety of acting class subjects including theatrical technique, on-camera acting, audition coaching, commercial technique, script analysis, musical theatre, and improvisation, to name a few.My most recent endeavor is building Actor Athletes, a virtual community and platform for working actors to get and give accountability, resources to train and recover like athletes, and celebrate each others\' wins.I am incredibly passionate about mentoring actors and creating a space where they feel safe and comfortable to play while still challenging them to learn new skills and techniques. As a leader in arts education, my goal is for young performers to trust that they are enough just as they are, so they develop confidence in their abilities and the freedom to take creative risks as their authentic selves.Learn more at melaniemcnulty.com.
