ABOUT MELANIE HOUSTON
Melanie Houston is the Managing Director of Water Policy & Chief of Organizational Planning for the Ohio Environmental Council. In this role, she is responsible for leading, managing, and growing the organization’s water advocacy programs. Melanie works alongside partners to achieve policies that advance clean, safe and affordable water for all Ohioans. She leads OEC’s federal advocacy work on water and supports our regional team in advancing local water policy goals. Melanie also leads the organization’s strategic planning and annual planning efforts across departments.Melanie Houston is serving in her second term on Grandview Heights City Council. During her tenure, she has chaired the communications and technology, planning and administration, and safety committees. Melanie is committed to advancing sustainability and public health initiatives for the city. She recently cosponsored legislation allowing residents and businesses to finance energy efficiency and solar energy projects on their property tax bills and meets regularly with Sustainable Grandview. Melanie authored a resolution declaring racism as a public health crisis and is committed to advancing policies which increase equity and inclusion in our community.
