In my current role, I am working as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant Practitioner for Barking and Dagenham Speech and Language Therapy Service. My responsibilities include:•To plan and carry out routine SLT interventions to children in clinic sessions and during school visits.•To prepare the therapy environment, including the making and preparation of therapy materials and activities, tailoring them to suit a child\'s individual needs.•To carry out administrative tasks including arranging appointments and maintaining organisation of records.•To work collaboratively with all those involved in developing speech, language and communication skills in children, as well as school staff to meet the aims and targets of the SLT and school teaching team.•To manage intervention programmes according to agreed aims by adapting, modifying and developing programmes, with periodic supervision from other SLT\'s.•To have contact with families through clinic sessions and school visits.•To provide peer support for newly employed speech and language therapy assistants.•To be responsible for maintaining accurate patient care records and recording my own personally generated clinical observations.•To demonstrate NELFT\'s trust values in my day to day work.
