About Mel Clauson
Melvil B. Clauson’s experience spans over 35 years working in Technical, Operational and Business Development roles for companies ranging from small start-ups through Fortune 50’s. Primarily focusing in Industries with high technical and regulatory content, Mr. Clauson has spent the last fifteen years working in the Aerospace/Defense Composite Sector and the last eight years before becoming an independent Consultant with the Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) division of Albany International.In his roles with AEC, Mr. Clauson held leadership roles in a wide range of projects focused on 3D Composite constructs ranging from complex woven preforms and z-direction insertion products to 3D reinforced sandwich-style structures. The premier application in this space is, of course, the commercially successful Fan Section for CFM’s LEAP Engine program, targeted at next generation single-aisle aircraft.Mr. Clauson has worked extensively Internationally with work assignments in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. He holds a BS Chemical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire with a concentration in Polymer Science. He has also obtained a certificate in Management & Leadership from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
