About Meilin Scott

I am a recent graduate of Western Washington University (WWU) with my Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology with a Spanish minor. I am fascinated by the microscopic world! I aim to earn a PhD and a career where I can use molecular biology to solve human health and environmental problems. My research experience spans fieldwork in marine biology, wet lab work in cell biology and environmental microbiology, and dry lab work in bioinformatics. I am a fluent Spanish speaker and aspire to collaborate with researchers on an international scale. I have studied abroad in two countries: Guanajuato, México in Summer 2022 for Spanish Language and Njoro, Kenya at Egerton University in Summer 2023 for research. My leadership experience includes serving as Co-President of the WWU SACNAS (Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science) Chapter and as a Peer Mentor in the WWU Biology Mentorship Program.
