ABOUT NILS MEIER

I lead engineering in Digital Banking at EQ Bank, responsible for a portfolio of customer and platform capabilities spanning customer journeys, identity and access, customer data, and servicing infrastructure. The work ranges from building customer-facing product features to stabilizing and evolving the systems that sit underneath them. A key part of my role is turning fragmented systems and teams into coherent platforms. That includes improving how we manage identity, customer data, fraud controls, and service integrations, while driving engineering-led improvements in reliability, observability, and operational quality. Customer experience is the ultimate measure of success. I focus heavily on execution: clear ownership, measurable outcomes, and engineering teams that can move from analysis to delivery. In practice this means helping teams simplify architecture, prioritize the work that actually changes customer outcomes, and build systems that scale without constant operational friction. Beyond my direct organization, I work across domains to align technical direction and execution on larger initiatives. I also spend a significant amount of time hiring and developing engineers and leaders. Strong systems are built by strong teams, and raising the engineering bar is one of the highest leverage things a leader can do. Before joining Amazon, I led large-scale systems and interviewed hundreds of engineers. That experience continues to shape how I think about ownership, engineering rigor, and building organizations that deliver.
