ABOUT MEHRDAD FAZLI

Correlation does not imply causation.\"As a data enthusiast with an acute interest in machine learning, I’m currently studying PhD in Computer Science at George Mason University. I also have an MS degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia. While pursuing Systems Engineering, I learned about statistical modeling and data engineering in depth. I worked on several projects to apply machine learning to public datasets, from human activity recognition (HAR) to COVID-19 forecasting. My research focuses on applying classical machine learning algorithms, like Random Forest and SVM, to deep learning models like ANN, CNN, and RNN, and their variants, to a wide range of problems.Aside from academia, I worked at Wayfair in the Margin Optimization team during the summer of 2022. I built an evaluation framework for the \"demand simulator\" so economists could assess the performance of their models in predicting profit and revenue under a new pricing policy. I also work with varsity tutors and teach programming in Python to students.I enjoy working with data and building data-driven applications. I am an innovative, avid learner, team player, and detail-oriented person. I have great analytical skills and good critical thinking. I’d love to find a role that allows me to practice what I’ve learned while picking up numerous other skills. I’m looking forward to a career where both my company and I can reach new heights.
