ABOUT MEHRAAB NAZIR
My research spans the analysis and modeling of urban road safety and environmental outcomes, with a particular focus on how road network structure shapes crash risk and air pollution. During my Master’s, I concentrated on crash severity analysis, prediction, and prevention, applying both statistical and machine learning techniques to improve the understanding and forecasting of crash severity. Building on this foundation, my doctoral work examines the influence of network topology and urban geometry at multiple scales, including city-wide and intersection-level analyses. I also investigate the Modifiable Areal Unit Problem (MAUP) in spatial road safety modeling and develop global multicity models to assess how network structure affects air pollution across diverse urban contexts. Through the integration of network science and advanced statistical modeling, I aim to produce research that is both methodologically rigorous and directly relevant to real-world transport safety and urban planning challenges.
