ABOUT MEHMOODA DUKE

Mehmooda was appointed High Sheriff of Leicestershire on 25th March 2022 following a Royal warrant issued by the late Queen Elizabeth II. The 2nd woman of colour in over a thousand years. She served until 31st March 2023. Former Chair of Leicestershire County Cricket Club she is the 1st female and 1st Asian to have held the position of Chair in the country and in the history of English Cricket and the 1st Asian female to serve as President in the 155 year history of Leicestershire Law Society. Mehmooda was awarded an MBE in the January 2019 New Year Honours list for services to the legal profession and female entrepreneurship. She is a Deputy Lieutenant for Leicestershire. Mehmooda won Leicestershire Law Society solicitor of the year in 2018 and Leicester Mercury Business Woman of the year in 2017. Mehmooda is the founder and Chair of Moosa - Duke Solicitors a niche Medical Negligence firm and an experienced lawyer. Her USP is that for 10 years she defended doctors before setting up a firm acting for victims of Medical Negligence. She has represented clients in high value claims involving serious spinal injury/ Cauda Equina Syndrome. She is described in Chambers and Partners as being in a league of her own.
