ABOUT MEHMET OZBEKLER
With more than 10 years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of working with students aged 8 to 18 in diverse locations such as Ankara (my hometown), Istanbul, Vientiane, Leicester, and Aylesbury. I am passionate about putting my students first and take great joy in witnessing their development and learning progress. While pursuing my Ph.D. in Science Education at Sakarya University in 2016, I made the significant decision to leave Turkey and began teaching Mathematics and Physics at an international school in Lao PDR. During my time in Vientiane, I served as the Head of the Department, gaining invaluable experience in an international educational setting. I have substantial experience preparing students for Cambridge IGCSE examinations and am a certified IGCSE Mathematics and Physics examiner. Additionally, I hold an integrated Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Secondary School Science and Mathematics Education. Although I completed 90 ECTS in my Ph.D.(Science Education), I was unable to start writing my thesis. My planned research focused on the pedagogical content knowledge of science teachers. I also presented an oral paper on Science-Technology-Society and Environment-related objectives of the 2013 Science Curriculum of Turkey at the ERPA Congress in 2014.In terms of technical skills, I am proficient in using information and communication technologies and can quickly learn new software. During my master\'s and Ph.D, I utilized SPSS and MAXQDA for data analysis. I also have experience in Java programming, with hands-on experience using Spring frameworks, Swagger OpenAPI 3.0, JUnit, and Mockito. From December 2021 to September 2024, I had worked as a long-term and short-term cover teacher in Leicester through various agencies. I completed long-term assignments in different schools in Leicester as a Mathematics and Physics teacher, including planning and assessment responsibilities. Additionally, I have worked in over ten schools in Leicestershire as a short-term cover teacher. I have completed my PGCE with QTS with distinction in 2025. I am currently working as a Science at Insignis Academy Trust. I am a consistent, hardworking, highly organized, and motivated individual. While I may lack some experience in some areas, my enthusiasm and willingness to learn are my greatest assets. I believe showing up every day with an open mind and readiness to embrace new experiences is more important than striving for perfection from the outset.
