ABOUT MEHDY GHANNAD
Over the past 20+ years, my journey has been shaped by a balance of structure and exploration — building a career in Cybersecurity, IT Compliance, and Risk Management, while also pursuing creative work rooted in storytelling, travel, and human connection. Professionally, I’ve worked across complex environments helping organizations navigate risk, strengthen resilience, and operate with clarity and accountability. My background includes over two decades of experience in cybersecurity, IT governance, and risk advisory, grounding me in systems thinking, discipline, and leadership. Alongside my corporate career, I developed a strong presence in travel media and storytelling as a producer, writer, and on-camera spokesperson. My production work in travel advertising earned multiple Telly Awards, and my writing appeared in The Huffington Post, Millennial Magazine, and Honeymoons.com. I also had the opportunity to represent brands including Rough Guides and Osprey Packs. In 2014, I was recognized by the Obama Administration as one of the 100 most influential people in travel media — an experience that reinforced the impact of storytelling in shaping perspective and connection. Through my travels across more than 75 countries and all seven continents, I gained a deeper understanding of identity, culture, and what it means to live a meaningful life. That intersection of structure and self-discovery led me to write Roots to Sky (published by Chapel Hill Press). The book explores personal growth through the metaphor of a tree: from roots (where we come from), to trunk (strength and identity), to branches (expansion and possibility), to canopy (connection and collective growth). Beyond my professional work, I also facilitate sound healing experiences, creating space for stillness, reflection, and reconnection in a fast-moving world. Whether in corporate environments, creative spaces, or community settings, I’m drawn to one central idea: Growth is not linear — it’s lived, layered, and deeply human. I’m always open to meaningful conversations, collaborations, and opportunities to share this work.
