About Mehak Oberoi

The one thing I always wanted in a career was creativity. A job where I could use my artistic talents combined with my love for digital design and storytelling. In elementary school when asked “what do you want to be when you grow up?” my answers would vary between artist, art teacher, and fashion designer - all within the same realm. Despite my passion for the arts, I often questioned whether I could find success in this field and convinced myself that it was purely a hobby. College is typically a time for discovery and growth, but for me it was a period of uncertainty. I majored in industrial engineering, but I often found myself distracted trying to find other opportunities or paths. Only during my senior year did I find something that combined my love for tech, human behavior, and brought back the creativity that I lacked in my life: UX design. Now, I am a data analytics apprentice, learning how to effectively craft stories through data visualization tools. This skill is not only beneficial in UX research, but also in designing products and digital interfaces.
