ABOUT MEGAN ELLIS VAN VLACK

I’m a depth-oriented psychotherapist based in Oakland, working with adults, children, and families.Many of the people I see are thoughtful, capable, and carrying a great deal; professionally, relationally, internally. From the outside, their lives may look stable or successful. Inside, something feels strained, disconnected, or unsustainable.My work focuses on the underlying patterns that shape how we relate to partners, colleagues, family, and ourselves. We look at the tension between ambition and intimacy, responsibility and desire, competence and vulnerability. Therapy is not only about symptom relief; it’s about understanding the deeper architecture of your inner life.I’m in analytic training at the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco. My approach integrates Jungian depth psychology with contemporary relational and developmental thinking. The work is collaborative, grounded, and direct. In addition to individual adult therapy, I work with children and adolescents, particularly around grief, high-conflict family systems, and major transitions.If you value insight, self-examination, and real change, we may work well together.
