If you told me a few years ago that I’d be working on Python backtesting frameworks and building interactive Tableau dashboards for fixed income at Morgan Stanley, I might’ve laughed nervously… then opened a new tab to Google “backtesting.”Hi, I’m Meghna Havalgi-my journey into data science wasn’t a straight line but more of a curious, slightly chaotic zigzag (the best kind, really).From my early days studying Business Administration to working as a Financial Analyst at Deloitte, I found myself constantly looking beyond the numbers; asking why, what if, and how can this be better? I didn’t want to just report results-I wanted to predict them, explain them, maybe even redesign them. That’s when I found AI.It nudged me toward a postgraduate certification in Data Science; where I began to translate raw information into meaningful insights. I haven’t looked back since.Today, I’m diving deeper as a Masters student in Information Systems at Northeastern University. I’m blending technical skills with strategic thinking, turning large, messy datasets into clean, purposeful insights.During my time at Morgan Stanley, I dove into fixed income analytics, built dashboards and backtesting frameworks that made decision-making just a little less fuzzy. It’s here I realized the kind of work I want to do: where data meets purpose.So here I am: a data storyteller, AI enthusiast, and endlessly curious collaborator.
