About Meghan Welch

I am a senior at Denison University studying Biology and Chemistry. I work as a Student Wellness Coach at our health center, hold an executive position in Denison\'s Pre-med Club, and am the co-head coach of the Granville Youth Lacrosse team while excelling in my pre-medical course studies. I spent the summer of 2022 interning at UPMC\'s Children\'s Hospital in the SRIP-ENDO program. In the endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism research department, I was crucial in assisting my colleagues in presenting a novel method to purify intestine stem cells as a possible therapy for type-1 diabetes. I will continue my research at UPMC Children’s Hospital as a volunteer in the summer of 2023.

   Awarded a grant to design and implement a grassroots peace-building initiative focused on improving maternal health for individuals experiencing Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) in the Greater Pittsburgh region. Managed all aspects of project development, including research, community outreach, financial tracking, and program implementation. Collaborated with local organizations and healthcare systems to deliver informative workshops, ensuring sustainable impact and meaningful community engagement.Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and project management skills in a fully self-directed environment. Navigated a highly competitive application process requiring a detailed project proposal, budget planning, and demonstration of potential social impact.
