About Meghan Reisenauer
I\'m a MPP/MS graduate of UC Berkeley specializing in environmental and water policy, environmental engineering, and strategic recommendations. I\'m deeply concerned by the Western water crisis, and am leveraging my unique combination of engineering knowledge and policy expertise to support the advancement of policies and practices which conserve water and protect our agriculture and environment. My key accomplishments: Published a thesis on agricultural land repurposing in California to address the groundwater crisis. Produced a detailed report on the history and future of California\'s water resources, including recommendations for sustainable water management and policy. Provided recommendations to North Central Texas Council of Governments for carbon emissions reduction strategies from waste, wastewater, and water sectors. Incorporated advocacy and environmental justice in strategy proposals, including vulnerability assessments. As an environmental engineering consultant, I helped many clients to comply with environmental regulations. Leveraging my BS in Environmental Engineering from MIT and my 3 years of consulting experience, I acquired my Engineer-In-Training certificate. I\'m now transitioning my career to informing environmental and water policy analysis using my scientific and engineering background.I recently achieved a dual MS Environmental Engineering and Master of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley. For my Master\'s thesis, I presented local nonprofit Sustainable Conservation with policy recommendations, developed based on my research into agricultural land repurposing in California aimed at addressing the current lack of groundwater supply. As an EDF Climate Corps Fellow during Summer 2023, I developed policy recommendations for a Dallas-region governmental organization (NCTCOG) to reduce carbon emissions from the waste, water, and wastewater sectors - providing over 20 policy strategies applicable throughout the country.I love discussing the intersections of policy, sustainability, and engineering/science.
