ABOUT MEGHAN MCDARBY
I have a PhD in clinical psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, where I conducted research on patient-centered communication support interventions in outpatient palliative care settings. I am currently a clinical psychologist and behavior scientist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I conduct research and teach health care providers how to communicate empathically and effectively about serious illness. My goal is to create and refine resources and strategies that improve patient end-of-life care experiences and patient-provider communication, especially for patients with structurally minoritized identities. As a clinician, I employ collaborative, evidence-based treatment approaches in my work with diverse clients across the life course, with presenting problems such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and cancer caregiver burden. I am also passionate about improving access to evidence-based psychotherapy and innovating in the development of scalable models for mental health care delivery.
