I direct the Pheobe H. Stein Child Life program which has a staff of 1 volunteer coordinator, 11 child life specialists, 3 playroom assistants, 1 music therapist and an art therapist who provide information, clarification and support throughout children\'s hospitializations. We teach patients about their medical condition, their treatment and how to manage pain and/or anxiety. We afford them opportunities to express and process their experience through various modalities. Additionally, I oversee staff for the Explainer Program who monitor and manage the interactive patient care system provided by Getwell Network and Playroom Assistants who provide recreational support for patients in the Children\'s Hospital at Montefiore(CHAM). These student positions are part of a mentorship program we offer that affords them the opportunity to build careers through development workshops, resume writing, professional interview role playing and career placement. 75 students have participated in this program over the past ten years and have completed higher education and are successfully working in chosen careers.
