About Megan McCabe

I\'m an environmental professional who is passionate about the conservation of wildlife, biodiversity, and critical habitats. With skills in coordination, communication, facilitation, partnership-building, research, and analysis, I enjoy working with others to implement strategies to make progress on shared goals in environmental conservation and restoration. Though I\'ve worked at a variety of organizations, I\'ve found a common thread among them: I most enjoy working at the intersection of science and policy, in the space where valuable science can make meaningful contributions to conservation planning and management decisions. I am interested in terrestrial, coastal, and marine ecosystems and species, and am confident that my skills can be applied to a variety of different conservation efforts and organizations. I am passionate, capable, driven, and inspired by the work I do and aspire to make a positive difference in the conservation field.

1. Research and Outreach Coordinator

   National Marine Sanctuary Foundation

   Federal contract supporting NOAA\'s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries. • Coordinate science activities at Mallows Bay-Potomac River National Marine Sanctuary, including characterization, monitoring, and research related to historic, heritage, and ecological resources.• Collaborate with sanctuary co-managers and partners on research and monitoring projects, including submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) surveys, acoustic telemetry, and community science events.• Expand partnerships and coordinate volunteer activities and public outreach events related to science, education, and stewardship that enhance and showcase sanctuary programs.• Interpret data to develop science communication products, including website content, social media, and education and outreach materials. • Manage Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps fellows, interns, and volunteers assisting with research and monitoring efforts.
