President & Head Therapist
Megan L. Rees, Lpcc Work Stress Therapy
Jul 2009 — Present · CA, US
Feel Better. Sleep More. Be Nicer to Be Around.I believe that work shouldn’t suck the joy out of life. My goal as a therapist is to help you feel like yourself again.Through therapy, you can transform your relationship to work, even if you can’t quit your job. It’s possible to regain your sense of purpose, develop skills for coping with stress, set boundaries with difficult people, and take back your power. The results could mean a better time at work and more meaningful time away from work.I’m not just talk and neither is working with me.I’m here to listen, but sometimes you’re all talked out. I’m trained as a drama therapist, which means that we can optionally use more than just talking to get at the heart of what’s troubling you. We might use metaphors, images, or storytelling. It might be easier for you to explain it by talking about your favorite TV character. We might explore where you feel it in your body because that’s where your stress is hanging out, anyway.I help my clients work through serious issues, and while there’ll be insights, progress, challenges, and triumphs, sometimes there’ll also be playfulness and maybe even some laughter. In addition to being a therapist, I’ve survived toxic workplaces and I’ve had my heart broken by mission-driven orgs riddled with abuse. Because of this, I also have a specialization in diagnosing psychological safety problems in companies. That, coupled with years of grassroots anti-racism work means that I will see—not only you—but the systems that might further cause you harm.My 17 years of experience includes training in grief, loss, and trauma. Whether you’re mourning a person, the end of a relationship, the loss of a job, or a change in identity that comes with making a career pivot, I would be honored to help hold space for your grief.
