About Megan Laughlin
I\'m a hardworking and detail-oriented PhD Candidate in Biomedical Engineering. I have experience with research and development, project management, technical publication and grant proposal writing, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property as a result of my graduate work. I\'m a natural leader with a strong desire to drive projects forward and facilitate cross-functional collaborations. My dissertation work focuses on creating a framework of flow models for the development and testing of cardiovascular devices. The primary components of my research include in vitro tissue-mimicking phantoms and non-invasive, angle-independent imaging modalities such as Blood Speckle Imaging and Vector Flow Imaging. Additionally, I work on the development of a bioprosthetic venous valve, specifically alternative xenograft fixation methods. I completed my BS in Biological Systems Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. I also graduated from the University Honors Program with the completion of my undergraduate thesis entitled \'Effects of Local Blood Flow on Muscle Stiffness\', utilizing ultrasound elastography.
