About Megan Hepler Blackwell
Megan Blackwell performs research and development to provide insights to cognition and sleep using Pison\'s wearable neural biosensor. She previously lead programs to apply novel sensors developed at Lincoln Laboratory to sense human activity - from blood flow in the brain to musculoskeletal injury. She hss collaborated with the Optics Group at the Martinos Center for Brain Imaging and Boston University on an NIH BRAIN Initiative grant to accelerate development of functional diffuse correlation spectroscopy systems for human brain imaging, leveraging single photon-sensitive detectors developed at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. She previously led programs advancing development of the digital-pixel focal plane array, a novel infrared sensor that has been conceptualized, prototyped, validated, and spun out from MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Megan has served as deputy lead for multi-million internal laboratory investments in biomedical research, where she helped develop a strategic plan and assisted principal investigators with the development, execution, and transfer of technology. She has led studies on brain computer interfaces and improving technology transfer at Lincoln Laboratory. This experience drew upon her background in intellectual property and expanded her knowledge of ways in which industry may collaborate with government or government-sponsored laboratories to develop and transfer technologies into the marketplace. After finishing graduate school at the Harvard-MIT Division of Sciences & Technology, Megan worked as a Technology Specialist at two law firms. Her practice supported patent prosecution in the area of physics, medical devices, biotechnology, and electrical engineering. Megan also volunteers in her town government and presently serves as the Co-chair of the Committee on Government Regulations.
