ABOUT MEGAN GUMKE

I\'ve worked as an infectious disease epidemiologist for over 13 years. I have become a subject matter expert related to epidemiological investigations for a variety of diseases including Measles, Hepatitis A and Meningococcal Disease. I have supported multiple major investigations and responses in Florida including the Multi-State Fungal Meningitis Outbreak, the Duval County TB Cluster Investigation, Ebola Response, MERS Case Investigation, Zika Response, Hepatitis A Statewide outbreak, and COVID-19 Response.Currently, I am a Senior Epidemiologist and the Infectious Disease Prevention and Investigation Section Administrator with the Florida Department of Health. My section includes five program areas including Acute and Vaccine Preventable Disease Investigations, FL Epidemic Intelligence Service Fellowship Program, Food and Waterborne Disease Program, Health care Associated Infections Prevention Program, and Vectorborne and Zoonotic Disease Program. My staff provide disease investigation and outbreak support to the 67 county health departments. Additionally, we work closely with our state laboratorians and surveillance section staff. I am a mentor for our CDC EIS Officer and CSTE Applied Epidemiology Fellow.
