ABOUT MEGAN CHU

I was born and raised in New York and am passionate and eager to learn more about accounting and tax. I attended Scarsdale High School and gained experience through an internship at an event planning company before starting my academic career at the Gabelli School of Business. Imagine Party and Events; a luxury event planning company based in Scarsdale, New York; taught me to communicate with other companies, clients, and company members. My first introduction to business was the Groundfloor course at Fordham University. Five team members and I designed our own company, created a business plan, and presented it to a panel of judges as part of the PVH Groundfloor Challenge. From this challenge, I gained further insight into the foundations of businesses, furthering my passion for business. Our team then advanced through the competition as semi-finalists. Due to my accounting internship with Total Management NYC, I learned of my passion and enjoyment of accounting and the tax industry through working on tax forms and account reconciliation for shareholders and unit owners. I particularly have a strong interest in sustainable reporting and environmental tax. I am passionate about helping others and plan to incorporate this into my career. I love working at non-profits that help alleviate food insecurity, such as UA3 Community First and Midnight Run. My strengths are my organization, adaptability, determination, and work ethic. I take pride in every role I assume as a volunteer, intern, or student.
