   Collaborated with KMPG in preparing Q2 - Q3 SEC reporting, including tax provision, footnote schedules, tax account reconciliations, and other disclosures. Documented internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley. Collaborated with Deloitte on the completion of the R&D tax credit study including information gathering from SAP and interviewing 17 Apellis department heads regarding roles and responsibilities. Researched and evaluated new state income tax nexus for two US entities while filing and paying tax extensions. Oversaw management of 2022 tax return preparation process by KPMG and coordinated all information gathering and correspondence with outside firms. Worked with senior leadership to understand business objectives and ensure the effective interaction with tax functions, including the development of company’s international, US, and state tax strategy for the European launch of the second FDA approved drug SYFOVRE®. Worked with outside tax advisors on valuation added tax (VAT) planning, customs planning, and new entity creation with members of the supply chain and accounts payable departments. Worked with outside tax advisors in the overall transfer pricing strategy and intercompany arrangements. Maintained tax calendar to ensure on-time tax filings, including annual report filings, quarterly income tax estimates, sales and use, European VAT, and property tax compliance. Provided support for payroll tax reporting and related matters. Prepared the quarterly reporting to support Apellis’ eligibility for the tax incentive from the Massachusetts Life Science Center (MLSC).
