ABOUT MEG BERRY
My path in life has never been traditional but leadership has always been a part of my identity. Growing up I struggled in school and excelled on the playing field. Athletics was my confidence booster and more importantly where I learned what leadership looked like, sounded like and felt like. I might have had to work really hard in school but being a leader came easy for me. I love to take care of the people around me, help lift them up when they were down, push them to be better than they thought was possible, and be able work within a team and it’s wide array of personalities and strengths. Not only was my family surprised I went to college to play softball over basketball but they were equally as surprised when I ended up in education. I am only the third person in my family to graduate from college and the first one to earn a Masters Degree. Needless to say, visions of educational leadership were not something I was raised with. Come to mention it neither was being a Division 1 Athelte, winning a Big East Championship and going to NCAA Tournament 3 of 4 years in college. But things happen for a reason right!My personal and professional experiences have taught me this about myself:I listen to my team and find ways to support them within the framework of my districtI excel at the execution of big ideas with in the given constraintsBeing a champion for kids who are struggling with “doing school” ignites my passion because I’ve been that kid. I creatively help staff access supports I develop professional development plans by collaborating with staff, identifying needs, and strategizing how or what to access to support the needs of the building. I manage team meetings by focusing on student success, needed supports, and disseminating important information. I am constantly learning. Growth doesn’t stop with a title.I am calm and collected in adversity or pressure situations. If I trust my gut, lead with my heart and make decisions with my head I am always headed in the right direction.
