Following the acquisition of Self Insured Reporting, ACA Reporting Service, and Healthcare Reporting by Water Street Healthcare Partners, I transitioned into leading the company’s newly formed Innovation Lab. This internal unit is focused on transforming the way we deliver compliance, reporting, and benefits analytics through the strategic deployment of emerging technologies, and process automation.My focus is on identifying, prototyping, and implementing solutions that improve operational efficiency, enhance regulatory precision, and elevate the overall client experience. I build and oversee cross-functional teams that span product, data science, engineering, and compliance, enabling rapid experimentation and deployment of transformative ideas. Together, we’re redefining what’s possible in the healthcare compliance and reporting space.

Mark is the Founder of Healthcare Reporting and currently serves on the Board of Directors and also the Innovation Lab at LumeLight, a leading healthcare compliance and analytics platform formed through the 2023 merger of several high-impact organizations backed by Water Street Healthcare Partners.In September 2023, Mark completed a transaction to sell a majority stake of his portfolio companies—ACAReportingService.com, SelfInsuredReporting.com, NQTLAnalysis.com, DrugCostReporting.com, and PlanWellHealth.com—to Water Street. The companies were integrated into the newly created compliance division of LumeLight: Lumelight.com/solutionsMark brings decades of experience at the intersection of employee benefits, compliance, and technology. His career began in financial services in 1998, and after completing the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) program, he joined Marsh & McLennan Companies. There, he rose quickly, ranking in the top 1% of a company during his first year.That success led to a partnership with Blue Water Benefits in Charleston, SC, which under his leadership became South Carolina’s largest benefits consulting firm. The firm was acquired by Arthur J. Gallagher in 2011.In 2013, Mark founded Sky Insurance Technologies to deliver best-in-class, technology-driven solutions to group insurance stakeholders. This spirit of innovation carried forward into the formation of Healthcare Reporting, which quickly grew into a trusted resource for self-funded employers and benefits professionals navigating complex regulatory demands.A lifelong learner, Mark holds seven professional designations—including CFA, CFP, CLU, ChFC, RHU, REBC, and GBA—and was awarded the Distinguished Educational Achievement Award in 2003. He is a proud graduate of Wofford College, where he played football and earned a BA in Political Economy & Philosophy and a BS in Economics.
