About Meena N.
I had the idea I was meant to be a lawyer, but after college it became clear that going back for another four years wasn’t very appealing. That’s when I found Procurement. I was helping with sourcing, vendor management and analytics. From there my love of negotiation, technology, process and improvement intensified. I realized the algorithms and patterns associated with everything supplier related in the full lifecycle fascinating. Most people hadn’t caught on to the art of what we were doing as sourcing professionals and they leaned towards the bullying of suppliers for results. Whereas the tactic we were being shown was based on respect and leveraging all variables to gain long term results. Quick wins, while appealing and showy for the moment, were proven to be damaging for an organization’s overall health.This started to become part of my mission. As I started to lead teams, it was important to instill some of the same rigor I had been taught by my predecessors. Providing transparency, a vision and clarity became a norm when entering a new organization to help with transformation. I had played every role possible, mastered the content and demonstrated real life examples.I started to realize my potential as a leader as I watched people grow around me. How simply having the conversation made such an impact when it came to someone\'s growth in their career. Some of my favorite moments of leading is seeing others grow as I push the boundaries that were once pushed on me. Seeing how others deal with ambiguity and change. Watching them rise to be innovative and inspiring, despite how hard it is in the moment.
