ABOUT VISHWAS GOWDA PANAKANAHALLI NAGENDRA
I am a Mechatronics engineer, medical robotics researcher, and co-founder of ManMed Dynamics LLP, driven by one mission: to humanize robotics and make advanced healthcare accessible worldwide. My work bridges precision engineering, AI, and medical science—transforming how surgeons, doctors, and patients interact with machines. Currently pursuing my M.Sc. in Mechatronics at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, I also serve as a Visiting Researcher at Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), India, where I lead pioneering projects in surgical robotics, radiology automation, anesthesia recommendation systems, and AI-powered wound assessment. My expertise spans ROS 2, computer vision, sensor fusion, embedded systems, and autonomous motion planning—turning research into scalable, hospital-ready solutions. Through ManMed Dynamics, I am spearheading India’s first and only surgical robotics program, officially set to launch by June 2027. This initiative integrates AI, robotics, and fluorescence-based cancer detection into real-world clinical practice—placing India at the forefront of medtech innovation. Alongside medtech, I gained valuable experience in autonomous systems research as a Research Assistant at DST – Development Centre for Ship Technology and Transport Systems, Duisburg. There, I contributed to the VERA project (Virtual Test Field for Autonomous Driving), modeling simulation environments in Blender, developing test scenarios, and presenting research at boot Düsseldorf. This experience strengthened my expertise in automation, simulation, and applied research in real-world contexts. My journey includes contributions to Formula Student racing, aerospace design with HAL and MARS Exploration, industrial automation, and global research exchanges in Germany and Indonesia. From writing low-level firmware to presenting AI-driven diagnostics in the operating theatre, I thrive on connecting deep engineering with impactful healthcare outcomes.
