ABOUT MEAGHAN MCLAUGHLIN

I am a conservation-minded professional and multidisciplinary artist with a passion for people, plants, and place. My experience sits at the intersection of field-based plant knowledge, responsible botanical sourcing, and community-driven conservation, and I’m motivated by work that protects ecosystems while strengthening the connection between individuals and the natural landscapes around them. With 8 years of experience in plant identification, natural product development, and sustainable botanical sourcing, I’ve collaborated with harvesters, small-scale producers, and international partners to support practices that prioritize biodiversity, equitable trade, and the long-term health of wild plant populations. My work has given me a strong understanding of species stewardship, landscape-level ecology, and the relationship between healthy ecosystems and resilient communities. I am dedicated to advancing environmental conservation through ethical sourcing, ecological education, and hands-on stewardship. I believe in supporting local economies, uplifting community knowledge, and using ethical trade as a pathway to strengthen conservation outcomes, preserve cultural relationships with land, and support regenerative development. Moving forward, I’m particularly interested in roles where I can support biodiversity preservation, contribute to conservation planning, and help build partnerships that strengthen relationships between people and the landscapes they depend on.Outside of work, I’m inspired by travel, art, writing, and the time spent slowly sipping coffee in my favourite small neighbourhood café. I can often be found out on the trails, exploring Hamilton’s waterfalls, escarpment forests, and the incredible natural corridors that define this region.
