About Meagan Tsai

Hello, I’m Meagan Tsai. I am pursuing a path toward becoming a Clinical Psychologist, driven by a passion for inclusive, culturally responsive mental health care and a deep commitment to serving marginalized and underserved communities. My journey began with seven years of service in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. That experience built my resilience, leadership, and understanding of patient-centered care, which continue to shape my clinical values. I am especially focused on supporting individuals who have historically been excluded from research and adequate mental health services. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. My academic focus has explored how systemic inequality affects mental health outcomes, particularly for those whose identities and experiences are often overlooked in psychological research. Currently, I work as a Doctor’s Technician at Stanton Optical and have served as a research assistant in Dr. Ruth Walker’s B.E.S.T.E.S.T. Lab. There, I contributed to projects addressing ageism, sexism, LGBTQ+ health, and food insecurity. In Fall 2025, I will begin the Clinical/Counseling Psychology PhD program at Utah State University. I will be conducting research in the Tohi Lab, where I plan to expand my work on culturally grounded, affirming care for LGBTQ2S+ individuals, veterans, people of color, immigrants, and others historically underserved by mental health systems. Outside of work and academics, I enjoy baking, reading, and traveling with my family. I am always open to connecting with fellow researchers, clinicians, and advocates who are dedicated to reshaping mental health care through equity, inclusion, and compassion.
