I am a former teacher and principal who now serves as Supervisor of Employee Relations for Knox County Schools.Over the course of my career, I have worked at nearly every level of a school system. Those experiences have shaped my central belief about leadership in education: Support is not a policy. It is a lived experience. Educators do not feel supported because a program exists. They feel supported through the daily leadership decisions, expectations, and culture created within a school system. My work explores how leaders balance compassion, accountability, and courage in complex environments.I write and speak about:• leadership culture in schools• HR realities and personnel decisions• policy and system-level pressures• navigating change in education• what real support for educators looks like My writing has appeared in outlets including Education Week, The 74, Chalkbeat, and Phi Delta Kappan, where I explore the intersection of leadership, policy, and the lived experience of educators. I am particularly interested in helping school leaders, district leadership teams, and school boards better understand how their decisions shape whether educators truly feel supported.
