About David Mead

The built environment has the capacity to do more than minimize harm, it can actively contribute to the health of the places it inhabits. My work centers on advancing that shift.As Department Head of the Regenerative Design Group at PAE, I work to embed regenerative thinking into the core of engineering practice: aligning performance, carbon, and systems design to create infrastructure that strengthens the communities it serves.I focus on the unseen flows of energy, carbon, and materials that structure our cities. By understanding and redesigning these systems, I work to move projects beyond extractive patterns toward regenerative outcomes that support long-term ecological vitality.Earlier in my career, I served as a Research Fellow for Drawdown, evaluating climate solutions at a global scale. That experience continues to inform my systems-based, evidence-driven approach to advancing meaningful change in the built environment.
