About Marie-Eve Vesel
How did I go from being a nerdy actuary to a (still nerdy) product designer? Here’s what happened.As an actuary, my trademark was to make complex analyses manageable and easy to update for my peers. I was also known for crafting nice presentations (yes, with fancy animations and transitions); I would turn a jumble of overwhelming numbers into a compelling and meaningful story that my business partners could understand. I became the go-to person when other actuaries needed help with data visualization. From there, I grew into designing and building products specifically for actuaries.After years of being self-taught, I obtained a formal certification in UX/UI design, including a specialization in frontend development. It was time to say goodbye to the insurance industry and explore the agency world, where I got to work on really awesome projects, such as: An award-winning fitness TV app; A comprehensive UX competitive audit that led the client to retain us for their e-commerce website re-design.More recently, I worked for a remote fitness & nutrition coaching startup where I led the end-to-end design for their products and growth initiatives. Some of my proudest accomplishments include: Impactful features in the client mobile app that resulted in an improved NPS score, increase in healthy actions, and a 4.9 rating in the App Store; Multiple tools in the coach web app that allowed coaches to support their clients more efficiently while building a strong rapport.Do you see a trend here? I love tackling complex problems, and I’m passionate about improving people’s well-being and health (both physical and mental).I have to confess that I’m a huge Figma geek. Nothing makes me happier than creating components for a design system. Notion is another tool that I adore.Outside of work, you’ll find me running, biking, lifting weights, cooking delicious & healthy meals for my family, hanging out with my cats, going to music festivals, and playing electric bass guitar.Interested in working together?
