About Matt Saba
Through my work in libraries, museums, and universities, I help care for archives and collections of artifacts with the goal of increasing access and cultivating public interest in art and architecture. I have processed archival collections, organized exhibitions, taught courses, and published scholarly articles and blogs on various topics related to the history of art and architecture, with a focus on my area of expertise in the Islamic world. I have over a decade of experience cataloging and managing visual collections in academic research institutions. My interests include leveraging metadata to facilitate access and enhance research and engagement with visual culture.

Oversee activities of the Aga Khan Documentation Center at MIT, a specialized program of thee staff supporting research, scholarship, and conservation of art, architecture, urbanism, and landscape design in Muslim societies. The Center\'s activities include acquisition and stewardship of rare and unique collections related to the built environment and visual culture; research consultation and reference for MIT faculty and staff, as well as a global community of researchers; selection of monographs and periodicals for MIT\'s Rotch Architectural Library; co-curation and management of Archnet, an open-access intellectual resource focused on architecture, urbanism, environmental and landscape design, conservation issues, visual and material cultures, and other topics related to the built environment; and developing digital tools for humanistic research on the art and architecture of the Muslim world in collaboration with colleagues at MIT and beyond.
