ABOUT MIKE CHRISTIAN

I am a senior healthcare sector leader with nearly 30 years of experience and a strong high-performance track record. My specialisms include critical care, infectious diseases, military, aviation and pre-hospital medicine. I have enjoyed a diverse range of roles, including Chief Medical Officer for the largest Ambulance Service in Canada, Chief Safety Officer for a large multi-site Hospital System, Medical Director of Critical Care Response Teams in Canada, and Director (Founding Board) of Ontario Agency for Health Protection & Promotion. In 2016, I moved to the UK for a sabbatical with London’s Air Ambulance. Having decided to remain in the UK, I served as Clinical Lead for an Air Ambulance in the counties and subsequently was recruited to join London\'s Air Ambulance\'s senior team to lead on delivering key objectives within their research strategy. My experience includes providing clinical leadership at senior and executive levels including participating in defining clinical strategy and direction. My knowledge of safety & governance processes are excellent. Teamwork is important to me and I work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary colleagues, including remote teams. I lead with an engaging, inspirational and energising leadership style. Key to my success is my passion for evolving and developing service excellence.I completed an MSc in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and an MBA at Durham University. I am a retired member of the Regular Forces of the RCAF, having served tours in Haiti and Afghanistan, and I continue to serve as a reserve specialist medical officer/flight surgeon. I have responded to several disasters, including SARS and the 2010 Haiti earthquake and was one of the first on the scene of the London Bridge attack. I have advised governments about emergency preparedness issues. My academic pursuits focus on disaster management and emergency preparedness, and in 2018 was identified as one of the top 3 authors in the field of Disaster Medicine between 20••••17.
