ABOUT SALIK ALAM
I was placed with Aman Contractor as a site engineer after my Diploma. I had a period of 1 months before joining and so in the interim I joined a local builder. The initial experience was enlightening because it defied everything that I learnt in my course. It was more of jugaad than conventional engineering. I knew that nothing can be perfect. But I enjoyed because according to me managing Man, Machine and Money was exciting enough. In the initial part I was on site all the time, that way I learnt the checking and supervision stuff, site documentation, labour management etc. The next firm I joined was M/s Jayainta Kumar Gope which is a cheaf Contractor and was on a Millitry engineering services project. Here I learnt more about the billing procedures, micro planning, procurement. Being a site engineer is a very exciting job if u know where u want to be 3 years down the line. All the best!
