About Faraz Rupani
I work as an Economist at the WOTR Centre for Resilience Studies (W-CReS). My work supports initiatives that enable rural communities to build economic, social, and ecological resilience in the face of climate and development challenges. I bring an analytical lens to real-world problems, combining economics, field-level insights, and data-driven research to inform programs and policy. My interests span rural livelihoods, climate adaptation, sustainability, and inclusive development. I also write columns, engaging wider audiences on themes of development, economics, and social change bridging research, practice, and public discourse.I also volunteer to help create better educational opportunities for underprivileged communities. My journey took a meaningful turn during my college years when I volunteered with Under Privileged\'s Advancement by Youth (UPAY), where I witnessed firsthand the challenges within the education sector and the profound impact of community-driven efforts. After 15 months at Cognizant, I pursued an MSc in Economics to deepen my understanding of how economic policies can drive societal change. Throughout my academic journey, I remained committed to UPAY, focusing on elevating education for underserved communities in urban slums.
