I currently work on a medical-surgical/telemetry unit. In this position, I have the opportunity to care for adult patients of all ages, with an emphasis on post-op orthopedic clients. From this role, I am gaining opportunities to practice nursing skills, administering medications, building working relationships with patients and coworkers, improving time management, and gaining experience with many different disease processes. I also have had the opportunity to be a preceptor training new graduate nurses beginning their nursing career. It is encouraging to see new nurses learning to become great nurses increasing in their independence.
