   Mike focuses his practice in the areas of family wealth preservation, probate and trust litigation, and family business succession. Approximately 21 years of extensive experience form the foundation for Mike’s work with individuals and business owners. He takes pride in efficiently and creatively addressing his client’s estate and gift planning objectives, which range from wills and trusts to creating sophisticated structures to meet client’s wealth transfer and asset protection goals. In the courtroom, Mike represents executors, trustees, individuals and businesses in the administration and/or litigation of estate and trust matters, as well as businesses disputes. He has successfully resolved numerous contested estate, trust and commercial litigation cases, many resulting in multimillion dollar awards or settlements in favor of his clients. For the past decade, Mike has been the author of Horner Probate Practice and Estates, a seven volume treatise on probate and guardianship practice and will and trust administration in Illinois. His work has been cited by the Illinois Supreme Court and the Illinois Appellate Court. In addition to speaking on estate planning and wealth transfer issues, Mike has also contributed to other publications, including Illinois Law and Practice, Nichols Illinois Civil Practice and Illinois Forms Legal and Business.Mike currently lives in the Barrington area with his wife and children. In addition to his practice, Mike has been active in a number of charitable and civic matters. He was on the formation committee and is an oversight committee member of the Ruth Helen Wolf Endowment. He is a past president of Sheridan Park Neighbors Association, former member of the Uptown Chicago Commission, lector at St. Mary of the Lake Church, is a Trustee of the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation and is a Den Leader & Pack Leader for a local Cub Scout Pack.
