Moved our Data Infrastructure/Compute resources to IPv6. Coordinated with multiple teams across the org enabling us to deploy IPv6 only clusters as we had run out of Private IPv4 space. Worked on Hive/Corona focusing on reliability. Diagnosed and found multiple kernel bugs, firmware problems and hardware issues affecting reliability. Tuned our cgroup implementation to prevent OOMs from analyst\'s custom code and worked with the kernel team to drive fixes for XFS and IPv6 bugs. Also spent 13 months working with the kernel team to find a series of regressions that resulted in a 5-15% loss of compute capacity fleetwide. The changes we made benefited all of the world as this regression was introduced in kernel 4.0 and ultimately fixed in 4.6.5. Spent considerable time automating cluster turnup and working on the new framework for cluster turnup. Identifying and addressing issues with HDFS and Hive/Corona to keep our data warehouse and compute clusters running smoothly is an integral part of my day. Most of my time working on storage system reliability with new focuses on efficiency as we turn up our internally written storage system which replaces our HDFS deployments, dealing with scaling and operational issues. Taking the lessons learned with our HDFS installation and applying them to the new system allowed us to scale more quickly. Working on a foundation team responsible for key data set landing time and variability. Most of my work is done cross-team involving kernel, fleet health, scheduling, compute engines (Presto, Spark) and up to the application layer. Heavily focused on Incident Response management and tooling and spending a great deal of time enabling privacy throughout the full application stack. Actively involved with onboarding and mentoring peers within the Data Infra and Enterprise Engineering orgs. I\'ve presented at a few internal conferences and introduce new hires to the full stack from hardware to application in Data Warehouse.
