ABOUT MICHAEL CARTER

Human Agency in the Age of AI. I am an educator, researcher, and consultant working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, human agency, and institutional transformation. My career is driven by a central question: How do people create opportunity, identity, and meaning inside systems increasingly shaped by AI? My perspective is grounded in both scholarship and lived experience. I did not follow a traditional academic path. I built my education one course at a time while working full-time, eventually earning degrees from leading universities and becoming a professor. That journey taught me how powerful institutions can be, and how profoundly individuals can reshape their own trajectories when they gain access, support, and agency.Today, I help students, educators, organizations, and founders navigate the shift to an AI-infused world. My work focuses on-AI literacy and capability-building in higher education-Human–AI collaboration and the future of work-Entrepreneurship and the democratization of innovation through AI-Ethics, governance, and institutional adoption of AI-The social and philosophical dimensions of AI—power, identity, and meaningAcross teaching, consulting, writing, and podcasting, I explore how AI transforms the conditions under which humans learn, build, compete, and grow. I believe AI, used responsibly and intentionally, can become the greatest tool for expanding human agency that we have ever seen.My mission is clear:Help humans succeed in the age of AI.
